My Little Patch in Riebeek Valley: Growing Old-Fashioned Herbs at LoveGarden

Tucked between the hills of the Riebeek Valley is my small garden – Lovegarden – where I grow herbs the slow, old-fashioned way.
Two years ago I started with a tiny piece of land and a head full of memories of my granny’s garden and the country remedies she used to make. That’s still what I do today: plant, tend, pick, dry, and bottle everything by hand (my partner jumps in when I need an extra pair of arms!).

You’ll find fresh and dried bunches of herbs, loose-leaf teas for a cosy cup, little jars of preserves I put up when the fruit is perfect, and a few simple tinctures and ointments made exactly the way people have done in farmhouse kitchens for generations. I especially love hunting down the almost-forgotten plants – things you hardly see anymore – just because they smell wonderful and make the garden feel magical.
Everything here is small-batch and hyper-local; it all comes from this one patch of valley soil, and I try to take care of the land the same way it takes care of me.
Important note I’m a gardener who loves old recipes, not a doctor or certified herbalist. Nothing I grow, make, or write about is meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any illness or condition. These are traditional, cultural, and enjoyment items only. Please always speak to your healthcare provider before using any plant for health reasons – especially if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication, or have any medical concerns.
If something catches your eye or you just feel like chatting about plants, drop me a message – I pack and answer every order myself. The kettle is usually on and visitors are always welcome when the gate is open!
Hope to share a bit of this valley magic with you soon. 🌿
